Salem district police arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with the murder of his 24-year-old son following a domestic dispute near Veeranam. According to investigators, the incident occurred after repeated confrontations within the family, during which the deceased allegedly threatened family members while under the influence of alcohol.
Police stated that the accused attacked his son after the latter allegedly created a disturbance at home and threatened relatives with a knife. The victim died at the scene, and officers from Veeranam Police Station initiated an investigation immediately after receiving information about the incident.
The accused was arrested, produced before a judicial magistrate, and remanded to judicial custody. The body was sent for post-mortem examination at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital.
Police confirmed that the investigation followed standard legal procedures and urged families experiencing domestic conflicts to seek counselling or police assistance before situations escalate into violence.
