The Salem District Administration strengthened voter awareness activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme to encourage greater public participation in the Assembly elections. Awareness rallies, public meetings, educational campaigns, and outreach programmes were organised across the district.
Officials interacted with students, self-help groups, government employees, and community organisations to highlight the importance of ethical voting and informed electoral participation. Special campaigns focused on first-time voters, women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
Election officials also demonstrated the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems to increase public confidence in the voting process. Citizens were encouraged to verify their names in the electoral roll before polling day.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to achieving high voter turnout through inclusive awareness initiatives and accessible election services.
