The Agriculture Department is encouraging Salem farmers to adopt modern agricultural machinery through various government subsidy programmes aimed at improving productivity and reducing labour shortages. Equipment such as power tillers, seed drills, transplanters, harvesters, and sprayers are being made available under financial assistance schemes.
Officials have organised machinery demonstrations allowing farmers to understand the operational benefits of mechanised farming. The programmes highlight reduced cultivation costs, improved efficiency, and timely completion of agricultural operations.
Farmers are also receiving information on application procedures, eligibility criteria, and maintenance practices for subsidised equipment. Increased mechanisation is expected to strengthen agricultural productivity while addressing labour availability challenges during peak cultivation seasons.
The initiative supports Salem district’s vision of modernising agriculture through technology-driven farming practices that enhance both productivity and farmer income.
